Step 1: Turn Off the Power
Before starting, turn off the power to the switch at your home’s circuit breaker or fuse box to ensure safety.

Step 2: Remove the Old Cover Plate
Use a screwdriver to remove the screws securing the existing wall plate. Gently lift the plate off and set it aside.

Step 3: Take Out the Old Switch
Unscrew the old switch from the electrical box and carefully pull it outward to access the wiring.

Step 4: Disconnect the Wires
Detach the wires from the old switch.

  • If wires are wrapped around screws, loosen the screws.
  • If inserted into rear holes, cut and strip the wire ends using a wire stripper if needed.

Step 5: Connect the Wires to the New Toggle Switch
Match and connect wires to the new switch:

  • Black (live) wire to the brass or black screw
  • White (neutral) wire to the silver screw (if required by your switch)
  • Green or bare copper wire to the green ground screw
    Tighten each connection securely.

Step 6: Secure the New Switch
Gently tuck the wires back into the electrical box. Align the toggle switch and fasten it using the included screws.

Step 7: Attach the New Cover Plate
Position the brass plate over the switch and secure it in place with the provided screws.

Step 8: Turn the Power Back On
Flip the breaker or fuse back on at your electrical panel.

Step 9: Test Your New Switch
Flip the toggle up and down to ensure proper operation. The connected light or device should turn on and off smoothly.
